Description

Reports to the Plant Manager at the same time working very closely with the Millwright's and direct there work daily.

Is expected to perform highly diversified duties such as installing, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production. Order parts and seek out new venders when needed.

Facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the facilities' business goals and objectives.


KEY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment
  • Order parts and seek out new venders when needed
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments as necessary
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and on the facilities of the plant
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to the Plant Manager and Maintenance team
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed
  • Track and maintain records in UpKeep software on all maintenance and repairs to machines and facility
  • Administer purchase requisition and purchase order process for parts and repairs
  • Provide input for and adhere to maintenance budget and spending
  • Direct and delegate workload to maintenance vendors and contractors as needed
  • Support and lead by example on all Health & Safety policies and safe operating procedures
  • Ability to understand budgets and work within them

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Journeyman or Apprentice Millwright, registered to work in Alberta.

Millwright and/or Industrial Electrician Red Seal certified or related field an asset.


EXPERIENCE
At least 2 to 5 years Maintenance Supervisory experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Lean/5S experience an asset
  • Shift flexibility is a requirement of this position
  • Able to operate material handling equipment and aerial lift with fall arrest
  • Knowledge of industrial conveyor electrical/mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of industrial baler/compaction systems with hydraulics
  • Knowledge of parts supply ordering and purchase requisition processes
  • Processing or manufacturing experience an asset
  • Demonstrated excellence in relationship building
  • Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization and problemsolving skills
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills required for internal and external contacts (i.e., professionalism, tact, courtesy, coaching/training)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical demands:

Majority of work hours are on plant floor with minority hours handling administration items at a desk, using office equipment.

Attendance to meetings is required. Lifting of supplies and materials of up to 50 lbs may be required.

Environmental Conditions:
Manage multiple priorities and tasks and may experience interruptions. The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, and precise attention to details.

Mental Demands:
Must gain a good understanding of Operations requirements with an appreciation of diverse stakeholder interests.

Travel Demands:
There is not a significant requirement for travel. This is on an as required and approved basis by the Plant Manager.


Salary:
$40.00-$43.00 per hour
