    Position Overview

    Responsibilities
  • Duties and responsibilities include: working with senior staff in formulating and implementing project work to meet desired objectives; overseeing all aspects of projects including the development of project definition documents, work programs, scope of work, request for proposals, feasibility studies, budgets and cost estimates; monitoring and reporting out on the progress of the work related to budget, schedule and quality of work; identifying project risks and proposing mitigating measures; overseeing implementation of plans, ensuring elements are scoped, phased appropriately, budgeted for and executed according to plans or specifications; reviewing plans and projects at various stages for conformity with the program of requirements; reviewing change orders, progress payment certificates/invoices and recommend payments.

This position will manage a team of professional consultants, external advisory groups, internal staff working groups and report out regularly to senior leadership steering committees to ensure the delivery of high quality programs and projects for The Shipyards and Waterfront Division.

This position may also manage a small group of reports.

The successful incumbent will liaise with internal and external stakeholders including other city departments, governments, agencies, community residents, stakeholders and business interests coordinating communications and engagement activities both internally and externally.

This position will also be responsible for preparing and delivering council presentations, reports and information reports. Performs related work as required.


Requirements:


  • A Master's degree in a related discipline (e.g. Landscape Architecture, Planning, Architect or Urban Design) and considerable years of experience with managing large projects of institutional or complex nature, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, methods and procedures applicable to project management is required. Experience with municipal planning and project delivery such as urban design, public space planning and design, landscape architecture development practices is preferred. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite are required. A Class 5 BC driver's license is also required.
    Compensation
  • We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position. The salary range is $119,964 $141,132 annually (2024 rates).
    Hours of Work
  • Compressed work schedule.
