Job Summary

This position reports to the Coordinating Principal - Social Emotional Learning and Well-Being - Student Support, and the Psychology or Social Work Managers.

It is a one-year, renewable position, based on satisfactory performance, up to a maximum of three (3) years.


Key Responsibilities

  • Centering the work of the Ministry Directives, the Black Student Success Strategy, specifically around disrupting ableism and racism
  • Program development and implementation related to the social emotional learning (behaviour) services continuum
  • Direct client and school support for students with high socialemotional (behaviour) needs
  • Consultation services to school administrators, teachers, education assistants, and professional staff
  • Development of consistent program practices and standards for social emotional learning programs
  • Creation and delivery of staff training and professional development
  • Development of linkage and referral pathways to alternative programs
  • Cooperation and consultation with community agencies
  • Instruct studentspecific safety training and assist with the creation of safety plans, Positive Behaviour Intervention Plans (PBIPs), student protocols, and other documents
  • Attend relevant meetings to support multidisciplinary approaches to complex case management\
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience as a school psychoeducational consultant or social worker
  • Extensive and successful experience in behavioural assessment, programming, and consultation
  • Fluency in antiracist, antiableist, and antioppressive practices to promote student success and to disrupt problematic practices
  • Proven leadership skills in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated skills in collaborative and cooperative problem solving
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and tight timelines
  • Providing professional development with groups of adults
  • Flexibility and adaptability in an evolving role
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
