Job Summary
The Technical Accounting Analyst requires accounting technical and analytical skills. It also requires the capacity to sometimes work under pressure and to deliver work within the required deadlines. A transparent and regular communication with all stakeholders is very important.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Perform receipt and claims settlement in Omega.
  • Send payment notification letters to clients.
  • Manage the intercompany transfers, reports and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balances to client reports and individual items for internal matching.
  • Perform analytic review of the technical accounts on a regular basis to detect any issue or missing results prior quarterly closing (proactive intervention).
  • Monitor aging of receipt settlement and clear backlog on a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliation reports (claims, premiums, commissions) and any other technical reports.
  • Determine, book and review the estimates in Omega on a quarterly basis.
  • Run technical accounting reports with Business Object tool on a regular basis.
  • Export the reports in an Excel spreadsheet linked to an Access Data Base and transform the reporting in a specific analytic view.
  • Monitor and analyze variations between actuals and estimations.
  • Adjust the accruals on a quarterly basis to post a plausible forecast further to the analysis of the results.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to validate the accruals and estimations. Post special reserves, late adjustments, and any other manual entries.

Required experience & competencies

  • At least 5 years' of accounting experience preferably with AR and AP exposure.
  • Good understanding of basic accounting concepts and accounting processes.
  • Specific reinsurance/insurance accounting experience nice to have.
  • Strong business acumen desired.
  • Reconciliations skills with the ability to clarify discrepancies and coordinate financial reconciliations.
  • Aptitude for figures and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver accurate results within specific deadlines.
  • Accuracy and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to collaborate with different teams to anticipate questions and outcomes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problem effectively without too much supervision.
  • Knowledge of Windows, MS Office, with proficiency in Excel required.
  • Proficiency with Business Object and MS Access are desirable.

Required Education

  • University degree or college diploma with general accounting courses required.
