Why This Role is Important


The Law Clerk will be responsible for providing a broad range of corporate commercial support across a variety of functional areas within the PCF legal team including contracts, privacy, complaints, product, corporate governance and compliance matters.


What You'll Do

  • Performs a variety of legal duties under the supervision of a lawyer.
  • Assists in the implementation and ongoing management of Bank compliance requirements relating to policies and procedures, contract management, testing & audit and other corporate & regulatory matters.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing and summarizing contracts, in collaboration with business and risk stakeholders.
  • Drafts client and customerfacing correspondence and other documents for professional review; develops precedents and templates as needed.
  • Assists with strategic initiatives and special projects, in collaboration with legal, risk, business and other stakeholders.
  • Collects and organizes materials and information required for accurate corporate record keeping.
  • Builds trust though effective, practical and professional communication; ensuring lawyers are aware of risks and mitigation strategies where relevant.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Post secondary education (preferably in Legal or related field)
  • Knowledge of corporate and commercial law in Canada
  • Experience with federally regulated financial institutions or other regulated industries is an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple internal and external relationships, including the ability to work closely with a variety of stakeholders to achieve common business objectives
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize, balance conflicting tasks and manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
