Martinrea Metal Industries Inc., located in Troy, Michigan, is a division of Martinrea International Inc., a growing Tier One automotive supplier in the business of metal forming and fluid management.

We are seeking a Corporate Materials Supervisor for our Corporate Materials & Purchasing group in Troy, Michigan.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
This is a Corporate position reporting to the Corporate Materials Manager. The Corporate Materials Supervisor will support all global Martinrea plant locations with executing Martinrea Manufacturing Systems (MMS).

  • Will coach the plants on methods to improve ontime delivery to the customer, ontime delivery of raw materials and supply items from suppliers, insuring proper scheduling for production equipment, accuracy of inventories, reduction on inventory, and compliance to environmental and safety requirements.
  • Will coach the plants on way to reduce waste, manufacturing byproducts, obsolescence and hazardous materials.
  • Will coach the plants on ways to improve Customer Satisfaction, PPM, Inventory Levels, etc.
  • Will study work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to maximize efficiency of plant Materials Departments.
  • Will coach the plants on improving inventory accuracy including cycle counts, onhand reports, perpetual inventory reports, scrap reports and downtime associated with Materials related issues.
  • Work with plants to establish appropriate min/max levels of inventory.
  • Assures that the Company's standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Materials Department functions.
  • Develops and refines work procedures for Materials Department and necessary training.
  • Leads and participates in achieving 35% net YOY continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Initiate projects / reports that contribute to continuous improvement or profit opportunities.
  • Support Corporate Purchasing as required, including negotiating contracts for MRO Supplies and Services among other commodities.
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, Martinrea Employee Handbook and Martinrea Purchasing Policies and Procedures

Requirements:


  • Minimum 58 years of Materials experience with an Automotive Tier 1 company (Automotive experience is a must)
  • A minimum of three years handson experience with Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Management, Containment and Material Control
  • Must have at least 1 year experience working in Stores (Crib)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Working knowledge of Customer Systems on Covisint relevant to the Materials function
  • Must be willing to travel as required, travel may be extensive (>50%)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are a necessity, knowledge of CMS is a plus
