Reporting to the Director, Drug Reviews and Pharmaceutical Partnerships, the Pharmaceutical Partnerships Manager will be an active member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits and Innovation team within Health Solutions.

The manager is responsible for leading the implementation of product listing agreements, identifying client and competitive insights, and evolving the value proposition of this function within the Pharma team to ensure optimal impact.

The manager will work closely with multiple stakeholders including Product, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Pharmacy and Medical teams as required.


What will you do?

Implementation of Product Listing Agreements

  • Participate in defining the negotiation strategy for Sun Life product listing agreements.
  • Lead effective execution, implementation, and maintenance of agreements; accountable for ensuring agreements meet all compliance and contractual requirements.
  • Act as stakeholder relationship manager for specified 3rd party relationships.
  • Maintains communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide input and support the development of the program roadmap.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the market to determine the best and emerging trends within drug plan management as well as establishes strong working relationships with the pharmaceutical community.

Project and Relationship Management

  • Lead/provide project management for key Pharma deliverables, including preparation of meeting materials and background information.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (Business Development, Account Executives, IT, Finance, Legal, Risk, Operations)
  • Participates in the resolution of issues raised on the performance of the agreement portfolio and monitors progress on the resolution. Tracks issues for discussion with partners for trending purposes
  • Manages internal and external expectations regarding our current capabilities (what we can and cannot do)
  • May be required to provide support to Business Development in the preparation of client RFPs.

Agreement Management

  • Using approved templates, engage internal partners (Legal, Compliance, Finance, Privacy, IT Security, Taxation, etc.) to create comprehensive contract documentation and agreements with pharma manufacturers.
  • Lead and manage the contracting process for all product listing agreements.
  • In collaboration with the team, lead and support the development of best practices and optimization of contract management.
  • Lead the execution of all contract management throughout the contract lifecycle (i.e., renewals, amendments, notices, and new contracts)
  • Assess, define, and resolve contract development/documentation issues including contractual terms and conditions and escalations by internal and external.
  • Drive efficiencies and excellence through continuous improvements and streamlined contract provisions.
  • Ensure all related governance processes/policies are adhered to and completed prior to final approval to ensure the acquisition is done in the best interest of the company (legal, technical, financial).

  • Extensive technical knowledge of the drug pipeline, approval and HTA process in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong client focus with experience in businesstobusiness negotiations, contract management and vendor relationship.
  • High level of initiative and commitment to excellence and confidentiality.
  • Proficient on a range of key healthcare issues, including ICER /QALY content.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team and matrix environment.
  • Results oriented.


  • University Degree

  • Bachelor of Business or Science Degree.
  • 5+ years project management experience, 3+ years of relevant work experience, ideally in pharmaceutical benefits and product listing agreements.
