Reporting to the Director, RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and in close collaboration with faculty, students and staff from across the University, the Community Animator, RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is responsible for supporting a range of programs and services and outreach efforts associated primarily with both remote and on-site activation of the CEAD in the Rosalie Sharp Pavilion.

The incumbent will focus on significant organizing efforts; multi-channel communications; advising and connecting individuals and providing key information/resources, all while working as an integrated member of the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD).


Summary of Remote and On-Site Responsibilities:

  • In consultation with the leadership of the CEAD and other key stakeholders, assist with roll-out of an evolving Community Engagement plan to meaningfully integrate internal and external users of the CEAD, whether in a virtual or remote context or on site at the CEAD in the Rosalie Sharp Pavilion at 115 McCaul Street
  • Serve as an agile first pointofcontact for general CEAD inquiries across many channels
  • Implement all external/internalfacing marketing communications efforts for the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers, including (but not limited to) the CEAD websites, and maintaining a dynamic social media presence to connect and inform students and alumni of resources and opportunities associated with the CEAD
  • Measurement and analysis of all marketing efforts associated with the full scope of CEAD activities
  • Assist with features of the OCAD U Commitment, which offers continued support to new alumni
  • Assist with the assessment of CEAD programs/initiatives and tracking of alumni outcomes
  • Conduct virtual and onsite advising and info sessions with students and alumni, in a variety of formats
  • Assist with features of the CEAD's networking initiatives, such as the Coffee Chats series, Professionals-InResidence and Student Career Ambassadors programs
  • Assist student, faculty and partner users of the CEAD with routine queries, including service and spacemanagement issues
  • Track and organize the effective uptake of CEAD programs and services, as well as the use of space in at the CEAD, including virtual engagements, fielding booking requests, resolving conflicts and the execution of Space Use Agreements among constituents
  • Oversee the CEAD's Resource Centre and an inventory of technology, materials and supplies
  • Provide operational support for oncampus special events that are delivered by the CEAD or where the CEAD has a presence
  • Liaise with Facilities & Studio Services, Safety & Security Services, IT Services, and other operational staff in relation to the proper functioning of CEAD operations
  • Assist key CEAD personnel in related functions contributing to the successful operation of the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in an art and/or design related discipline, with a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a higher education environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active public exhibition or equivalent history demonstrating professional acumen in the creative sector
  • Demonstrated skills in social media marketing, including audience growth and engagement
  • Familiarity with OCAD University an asset
  • Experience in remote and onsite events, and space management, required, particularly in creative industries
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships in a professional context, with a focus on University students
  • Proven interpersonal, problem solving, client experience, conflict resolution and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on marketing communications
  • Demonstrated ability in exercising tact, sound judgement and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, faculty, administrators and support staff

Compensation:
OPSEU Unit 1, Appendix A, Grade A2; $40,256.04 to $55,361.45 per annum


Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.
