Mathews Dinsdale & Clark LLP is seeking a
Legal Assistant with exceptional qualities to join our fabulous team in Calgary that will also share in some reception duties.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Support multiple lawyers in an established management labour and employment law practice, with a scope that includes arbitrations, Labour Board hearings, OHS prosecutions, collective bargaining, human rights matters, and employment litigation court proceedings.
- Prepare and transcribe correspondence and legal documents (including pleadings and other court documents), schedule meetings and coordinate appointments as required, organize and maintain physical client files as well as on the document management system, perform clerical, administrative and general office duties including taking calls and managing correspondence from clients.
- Enter daily time dockets and prepare monthly client accounts and disbursements for billing.
- Organize the work and schedules of the lawyers as needed to help ensure that deadlines are met, appropriate followups are done, and that clients receive excellent service.
- Carry out job functions efficiently and accurately, including when under certain tight time frames.
- At times, perform reception and office management duties along with other assigned duties, including but not limited to, greeting clients and answering telephones, setting up and cleaning up meeting rooms, receiving and distributing incoming mail, electronic bank deposits and arranging for couriers as well as submitting office supply orders.
Role Requirements
- 2+ years' work experience as a legal assistant in labour and employment or general litigation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Detail orientated with excellent proof reading skills.
- Punctual, hardworking and efficient.
- Maintaining a high level of accuracy, efficiency and productivity in a fastpaced work environment.
- Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness, work independently, be well organized and proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Must have basic to intermediate accounting skills.
- Ability to take initiative and go the extra mile to add value.

From $50,000.00 per year
