Clinician, Urgent Needs

Full-Time, Contract, up to 6 months

Tillsonburg
; Multi-Site Accountability; Oxford Catchment Area

When individuals experiencing mental illness, addictions, developmental disorders or acquired brain injuries need immediate supports, you'll provide rapid response they need to stabilize their lives and continue living successfully in the community.

As our Urgent Needs Clinician, you'll work closely with our Crisis Teams and our community partners on the Oxford County Situation Table to provide right-on-time supports when our clients need it most.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

What you'll be making - $31.74 per hour or as per CBA

When you'll work:

  • 70 hours over a two week period, flexible time schedule

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Provide support services to a caseload of Urgent Needs Clients
  • Establish a working and supportive relationship with clients
  • Assess clients' mental, physical and emotional functional abilities and needs and investigates client's present resources
  • Liaise with other professionals and with the community for the benefit of clients while adhering to the principle of confidentiality
  • Advocate for client rights as necessary and support selfadvocacy
  • Support and assist family members with issues related to the client's mental illness and addiction
  • Devise a service plan with the client, establishing goals to meet determined needs
  • Provides skill teaching, concrete counselling, and support to clients to assist in goal achievement
  • Monitor symptomology, medication, and activities of daily living to help improve individuals' ability to function on a day to day basis and within the community
  • Provide assistance with financial management
  • Provide crisis support and crisis prevention planning
  • Provide vocational and occupational support
  • Work in collaboration with situation table partners to provide timely interventions
  • Provide discharge planning

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

_ We require the following qualifications:_

  • RPN, RN, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required
    (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e.

original degree/diploma or official transcript):


  • Currently registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the College of Nurses of Ontario, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Experience in crisis intervention/management and crisis resolution
  • Demonstrated experience working from a Recovery Focused Practice
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of serious mental illnesses usually gained by several years of working with this population
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of Addictions
  • Experience in working in a communitybased setting with an extensive knowledge of social assistance programs and both generic and specialized local social support networks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Strong active listening and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle to carry out job duties
  • Vehicle insurance in compliance with CMHA TVAMHS policy
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

_ We prefer the following qualifications:_

  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
  • Ability to develop short and long term treatment plans in conjunction with an individual
  • Planning and organizational abilities
  • Ability to advocate and coordinate service access with multiple community partners knowledge of pharmaceuticals used in the treatment of mental illness and addictions
  • Extensive knowledge of the support/treatment services network in Oxford County and of regional services commonly accessed
  • Knowledge of legal system
  • First Aid & CPR
