We have a number of 8-week positions available (pending Federal funding approval) and we are flexible on the start and end date.

We offer $19.60/hour, a 37.5 hour work week, 4% holiday pay and free lunch

Donor and Business Relations Intern


The Mustard Seed Street Church and Food Bank (MSSC&FB) has been essential in fighting hunger and restoring faith to people living in greater Victoria since 1975.

Our operations are supported by generous community members and corporate partners, and by hundreds of dedicated regular and seasonal volunteers.

We operate the region's largest and most accessible Food Bank, the Food Security Distribution Centre serving 60+ organizations in the capital region, Family back-to-school and Christmas supports, Hospitality programs, services at Hope Farm Healing Centre as well as Church services.

Through these core programs we directly assist over 5,000 people each month and indirectly reach the over 45,000 food insecure individuals across our region.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Engage with community partners, establishing and maintaining productive and fulfilling relationships;
  • Represent MSSC&FB at community events to develop community awareness and positive perception of MSSC&FB;
  • Prepare marketing collateral, (e.g., direct mailsouts, donor and public relations as well as social media);
  • Arrange speaking opportunities with schools, sponsor organizations, churches, community groups & the media;
  • Collaborate with leads across the organization, ensuring all materials are up to date;
  • Support annual fundraising programs in collaboration with the development team.

Requirements:


  • Relevant work or volunteer experience or related education and training;
  • Ability to use all Microsoft Office Programs;
  • A valid class 5 Driver's license;
  • A vulnerable person's criminal record check; and
  • 23 work, personal and education references (as applicable to experience).

Logistics:


  • Work Location: This position will primarily work at 625 Queens Street, Victoria, BC, V8T 1L9, with some offsite work in the community.
  • Compensation: $19.60/hour plus 4% holiday pay.
  • Length of Job: 8 or 16 weeks (too be confirmed)

Note:
This position is mostly funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

To be eligible, the applicant must be:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
