JOB SUMMARY


Niagara Region has a Temporary, Climate Change Student/Co-op position for 35 hours per week available within the Corporate Strategy and Innovation Division for the winter/spring 2023 term (January to April).


EDUCATION

  • Graduated within the last 18months, or currently enrolled in a postsecondary program, in one of the following related academic fields: Environmental Sustainability/Management, Environmental Science/Studies, Physical Geography, Planning or a related field of study.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Working knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal environmental legislation, program policies and initiatives is preferred.
  • Understanding of Municipal environmental activities (e.g. water efficiency and protection, waste management, energy efficiency/management, transportation, public health, land conservation, community development).
  • Ability to identify emerging climate trends as well as knowledge of sources of climate change information and material.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of analysis and research techniques in environmental sustainability.
  • Working knowledge of communication strategies, community engagement and event planning techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and SharePoint/OneDrive.

  • Ability to work as well as in a team, as well as selfdirected and/or with mínimal supervision
  • Selfmotivated, confident and responsible
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skill
  • Demonstrated project management and time management skills
  • Detailorientated and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available for fulltime work from January until April 30, 202
  • Must provide proof of successful completion of high school
  • Must provide proof of enrollment in a related postsecondary program.
