Matrix is hiring for Heavy Duty Technicians for one of our clients located in two camps in Nunavut. Our client is a unique company with strong management who have amassed specialty experience on northern mining projects through all phases of Inuit consultation, permitting, construction, and operation

The pay rate is $43.43/hr.


Rotation:


  • This is a first in/first out operation on a 3x3 week rotation.
  • Planning positions work the day shift only.
  • 12 hours per day.
  • Overtime after 40 hours.

Accommodations:


  • This is a camp position so accommodations and meals will be covered.
  • There are 2 sites. Flights and travel will be arranged to and from the campsite.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform safety interactions and complete fieldlevel risk assessments before task commencement.
  • Attend and participate in daily safety toolbox talks, periodic safety meetings, routine and statutory safety inspections, and planned task observations as required.
  • Report hours worked and complete detailed service reports accurately and on time.
  • Use SAP software system effectively
  • Monitor all Mobile Maintenance equipment and infrastructure conditions to ensure safe use.
  • Communicate with and assist in preparing scopes with the maintenance planners and supervisors
  • Advise and implement corrective measures to achieve desired plan results in conjunction with the supervisor.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems.
  • Communicate effectively internally within the department as well as with all other departments, sections, and contractors as required.

Qualifications:

- (Red Seal) Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Off Road / Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic.
  • Certificate of Qualification with 5 or more years of field maintenance experience working on heavy equipment in an open pit mining environment required.
  • Heavy Equipment knowledge of Caterpillar Mining Fleets.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical, procedures, design drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to pass drug and alcohol testing as well as medical screening.
