Cost Analyst II:


Reporting directly to the Manager, Operations Finance for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, the Cost Analyst II is part of the Finance Business Partner organization supporting the Manufacturing and Construction team.

This role will interact regularly with individuals and management in Operations and other Functions.


Note:

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at our head campus, located at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, B.C.



What you'll do

  • Analyses weekly labour performance against the performance management baseline (PMB) budget.
  • Assists Control Account Managers prepare quarterly estimate at completion (EAC) forecasting.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and quarterly variance reports against PMB and EAC.
  • Develops and prepares actionable operational metrics tracking against the PMB and EAC.
  • Provides Program Controls team support during the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting consolidation into the overall Shipyards and Seaspan PMB budgets.
  • Assists in the development of analytical reporting to enhance Operations understanding/requirements in support of Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis process
  • Performs additional ad hoc analyses and other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, business/financial analysis working in a complex multiproject or program environment.
  • Knowledge of Government of Canada standard project controls principles, guidelines and EVMS process is preferred.
  • Member of Project Management Professional Body (APM, PMI) or MBA is an asset, but not essential.
  • Ability to capture and synthesize data into meaningful metrics and measures for analysis.
  • Proficient level understanding of EVM and Risk Analyses Techniques in a manufacturing and construction environment
  • Ability to capture and synthesize data into meaningful metrics and measures for analysis.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be a problem solver, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, including the ability to communicate with others with tact and diplomacy.
  • Advanced in Excel and other MS-Office products
  • Experience using an ERP system in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using BI tools (SAP BI, Power BI or equivalent).
  • Ability to work with limited direction and function as a key team member.
