Duties and Responsibilities:


Managed by the Assistant Director (Learning Spaces), and reporting to the Supervisor, Event Support, the incumbent will provide equipment and warehousing support relating to technical event support at Carleton University's main campus as well as at Carleton Dominion Chalmers Center.


Event Support maintains a large and diverse range set of technical and non-technical equipment ranging from lighting, cameras, audio, digital projectors, control and switching boards, computers, large displays as well supporting infrastructure (cables, connectors, adapters, mounts, and stands).

The incumbent maintains order and efficient use of storage, accurate inventory, logs, and conducts proactive maintenance of the warehouse. Using Event Support systems, policies and procedures, the incumbent helps monitor and assigns equipment to particular events.


The incumbent prepares equipment packages and carts based on the identified requirements for team members to deliver to event locations.

As required the incumbent will support hybrid and virtual events through the use of remote tools or web conferencing platforms.

Due to the nature of the department, the incumbent should be prepared to work different shifts and overtime on occasion including evenings and weekends.


In addition, this position will be required to spend a portion of their time supporting Learning Spaces - Classroom Technology Services (CTS).

As a Learning Space Support Technician, the incumbent would provide technical support for a variety of audio, video and network technologies in different learning spaces across campus including standard lecture rooms, active learning rooms and hyflex learning environments.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and facilitating multiple requests at various stages of production.
  • Follow established procedures in booking and assigning equipment to events.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and clients, requiring effective and efficient communication skills.
  • Must present a calm and professional manner as they support or troubleshoot a problem at an event.
  • Work experience in technical sectors with inventory management/organization or in technical event services would be ideal relatable work experiences.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Two-year college diploma, preferably in a technical field.
  • One year of related experience.
