About Program:


The Sahara Addictions Program at PCHS strives to empower clients and their families through a guided journey to recover from substance use behaviours and related concerns by using a culturally and linguistically appropriate holistic treatment approach.

The program provides supportive counselling, case management and group program services to individuals and family members.

Our mission is to use holistic and culturally relevant approaches to support and empower clients and their families dealing with substance use issues to help lead a life of respect and dignity as equal members of society.

The Addictions Program accepts referrals from hospitals, community organizations, probation officers, health practitioners, families, friends, or self-referrals.

The program serves clients 16 years and above identified with substance use/abuse, alcohol and drug addiction and concurrent disorder concerns.

Clients do not need a formal diagnosis for admission into the program.


About Position:


Qualifications and Skills:


  • University degree in human services or related field or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Registeration with a recognized college or professional regulatory body is preferred.
  • Minimum 57 years experience working in a related position preferred, ideally in a communitybased setting.
  • Advance addictions interventions skills, including counselling/therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, mediation, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates experience leading and developing highperforming teams.
  • Minimum 5 years' extensive clinical experience in the treatment of Addiction, Mental Health and Concurrent Disorders.
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal legislations and salient publications on Addiction and Mental health.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting individuals, families, caregivers and communities (e.g., poverty, unemployment, stigma, isolation).
  • Demonstrates clinical and administrative leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the needs of persons with addiction, mental health and concurrent disorders living in the community.
  • Knowledge of community services and the ability to foster effective service linkages and partnerships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and relevant electronic client record systems.
  • Experience in the documentation on Catalyst and CRMS database is an asset
  • Familiarity with a variety of health assessment tools is an asset.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the South Asian culture.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in biopsychosocial counselling techniques.
  • Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the concepts of clientcentred service delivery, confidentiality, and creating a safe space for implementing the Integrated Holistic Service Delivery Model.
  • Familiarity with Cloud technology and SharePoint will be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate information to a variety of stakeholders effectively
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to hire, train, supervise and retain qualified staff.
  • Ability to work with an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work with agencies, hospitals and the broader community.
  • Consistent commitment to professional development
  • Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills
  • Familiarity with the Commission of Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International standards is an asset

Requirements:


  • Knowledge of Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu languages is preferred
  • A satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Screening (Criminal Record Check) report
  • Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle with valid insurance
  • Current CPR and First-Aid certification
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a job requirement
