OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the North Care Regional Program Supervisor, the Support Work Coordinator will be responsible for the oversight of Support and Respite Workers in the Northern Care Program homes.
The Support Work Coordinator is responsible for creating Support and Respite Schedules in each home, working with House Parents and the Alternative Care Case Management team to ensure appropriate service delivery as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Recruitment and screening of new Support and Respite Worker applicants.
- Ensuring new Support and Respite workers submit their updated Criminal Record Checks and Child Abuse Registry Checks
- Facilitating orientation sessions with the new hires to ensure Shawenim Abinoojii Inc.'s (SAI) and North Care Regional Program policies and procedures are understood and followed.
- Travelling to the Southeast (SE) First Nation communities to meet in the home with Supports and Respites to conduct assessments on Support and Respite staff.
- Monitor and maintain Support Worker/Respite employee files, including updated background checks and any relevant information needed.
- Facilitate Support Worker/Respite meetings for each Home, or regionally to inform on any new updates, procedures, and reminders.
- Working alongside the Alternative Care Case Management team to build Support and Respite schedules that fit the needs of each home and benefit the children.
- Communicating with House Parents regarding dates/times in which they are leaving or returning from Respite, as well as other requests for coverage (Medical, City Travel).
- Working closely with Community Coordinators who are based in community to deliver paperwork, collect timesheets, contracts, file recordings, and communicate pick up/drop offs for flights in and out of community.
- Responding to inquiries from the Finance Department and following the finance schedule.
- Keeping detailed recordings of interactions and situations that arise with Support and Respite workers.
- Addressing any interpersonal and professional conflict concerns that arise with Support and Respite workers.
- Maintain a database of current scheduling in each home for other staff to access, on Microsoft TEAMs/Case Management Data base.
- Liaise with Foster Care Programs Finance Assistant and management to support effective interdepartmental communication regarding financial submissions and payments.
- Participation in Career Fairs with the Human Resources Department in the communities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Postsecondary experience is preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in coordinating and/or scheduling.
- Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Experience developing and supporting a strong, respectful teambased approach to service delivery.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), Email (Outlook) and Internet
- Excellent communication, organization, problem solving, and team skills.
- Ability to speak Anishinaabe preferred.
- Must provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector), Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks as a condition of employment.
- Successful applicant(s) will also be required to provide proof of COVID19 vaccination prior to start date.
- Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
