About the role

  • As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for:
  • Authoring documentation such as maintenance manuals, operation manuals, user manuals, service bulletins, and parts lists in a structured technical content environment using XML
  • Reviewing and interpreting engineering documentation such as engineering drawings, 3D models, test specifications and much more for various electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Meeting quality, cost and schedule requirements for assigned projects
  • Participating in a team environment focused on innovation, efficient work processes and customer satisfaction.

What you bring to the role

  • At least 1 to 3 years' experience in a similar role authoring structured technical content in XML/SGML using tools such as Arbortext Editor or Oxygen.
  • Experience authoring in S1000D and knowledge of the S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications
  • Ability to solve problems both independently and collaboratively in order to meet deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail, the ability to follow set procedures, and a desire for accuracy in job performance
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Canadian government security clearance.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience with Canadian Armed Forces technical publications and format
  • Experience in a handson capacity in a military equipment maintenance environment
  • Experience authoring in Simplified English.
