JOB SUMMARY
Provides product cost information in support of quote cost estimates for the manufacture of engineered products or related services. This data is to be used as supporting data for order margin analysis, pricing decisions, and operational cost targets.

In addition, provide cost information and analysis in support of R&D, product development activities, evaluation of sourcing options, investment decisions and other initiatives where product cost information is a key element.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts studies to improve estimating consistency or identify general cost trends
  • Develops standard cost tables and summary tables for common pump configurations.
  • Maintain up to date product cost data for uploading into pump tendering software i.e. Intelliquip
  • Monitor material indices as provided by Sourcing and Procurement, supplier price trends, changes in sourcing strategies, manufacturing costs rates and hours and all elements that affect product cost, to ensure costing models are kept up to date and closely reflect the execution strategy
  • Support R&D and product development initiatives to ensure proper feedback related to product cost targets, propose alternatives and design/sourcing options that will help cost optimization
  • Conducts special studies to establish variable costs (i.e. material $/lb) and labor hour or subcontract service cost factors (i.e. minimum charges or lot quantity multipliers).
  • Reviews reported cost in the manufacturing accounting software and prior estimates to determine the historical cost range for similar products or services.
  • Prepares estimates used for management purposes such as capacity planning, make/buy decisions, selecting vendors or subcontractors, scheduling work, or determining cost effectiveness.
  • Reviews data to determine material, labor, and subcontract service requirements and prepares a summary estimate for each requested configuration.
  • Analyzes proposals, datasheets, customer specifications, engineering drawings, and other documentation to identify the preferred pump design and applicable material and process specifications.
  • Utilize cost methodologies and tools and appropriate software models and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data
  • Utilizes product knowledge and understanding of design, material, and process limitations to validate specifications provided and services to be performed.
  • Computes cost estimates for materials, subcontracted work, and inhouse labor.
  • Compiles summary cost and communicates this value, along with applicable assumptions applied, limitations on use, and cost options for products, projects, or services.
  • Identifies opportunities for estimating or manufacturing process improvements
  • Assists with identifying deviations from estimated cost and incorporates the cost in future estimates as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes and coordinate system updates to align sourcing hours and costs to current data
  • Develop best practices and standardized processes and procedures to streamline cost estimating, cost engineering and cost analysis activities.
  • Evaluate and recommend system tools that will ensure quality, reliability, and process repeatability.
  • Maximize the use of technologies that will automate and facilitate sharing, communicating, and analyzing product cost information.
  • Maintains a baseline cost database to keep estimates consistent, accurate, and reduce time to generate a detailed estimate and can be used to calculate option adders and the magnitude of individual cost elements relative to the overall cost.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be knowledgeable in ERP systems such as but not limited to AS400 & SAP
  • Excellent analytical and math skills required.
  • Ability to work in a teamoriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.
  • Must be selfdirected, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 35 Years in a Manufacturing/Industrial Environment
  • 4 Year BA/BS Degree Required in Engineering, Accoun
