Primary Responsibilities


The
Regional Human Resources Lead, Canada, will oversee all HR functions for the Architecture and Engineering offices in Toronto, Richmond Hill, Ottawa, Kingston, London, Calgary, Victoria, Penticton and Vancouver with a staff of nearly 600 professionals, including engineers, planners, architects, economists, scientists and other disciplines.


This key role will be based in Toronto or Richmond Hill and will report to our Managing Director in Canada with indirect reporting relationships to our HR Directors in our Omaha, Nebraska headquarters.

We will count on you to act as a conduit between the HR team and to senior business leaders.

Some specific responsibilities in this role include:

  • Manage a variety of HR-related functions for the local managers and corporate HR Department.
  • Oversee HR functions within Canada, working with HR employees assigned to the area to resolve HRrelated matters.
  • Analyze and advise employees and management on the interpretation of employment policies, procedures and methods to resolve issues.
  • Manage and direct a team of HR professionals across Canada.
  • Consult with HDR recruiters to assist with the hiring process for Canadian employees and global transfers.
  • Oversee the new hire onboarding process and offboard process for exiting employees.
  • Facilitate HR activities for the area and provide guidance to employees as necessary.
  • Work closely with corporate HR in developing and implementing policies.
  • Assist managers with performance management issues, employee relations concerns and corrective actions.
  • Implement HDR's talent management programs that we have developed for recruiting and onboarding; strategic coop program management; performance management; career growth; compensation; learning and development; workforce analytics; and exit interviewing.
  • Coordinate the Annual Review and Outlook Conversation process. Assist managers with employee guidance and salary planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships, particularly at the senior management level, based on the demonstration of added value of the HR function.
  • Be a leader in developing and implementing regional or national HR projects and programs.
  • Lead the HR agenda within the Region, leveraging relationships and HR expertise to communicate policies & procedures, reinforce HDR values and strategic plan, and demonstrate alignment between HR programs, business objectives and HDR's values.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related with 10+ years of progressive HR business partner and leadership experience
  • HR professional designation preferred; (CHRL or CHRE level preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate integrity and credibility in dealing with confidential/sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fastpaced and rapidly changing matrix environment, driving alignment and results.
  • Ability to collaborate with various HR and client group teams to build solid relationships.
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills, with an ability to understand broad, complex business issues.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining compliance with provincial employment laws and standards.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Occasional travel to our offices will be required.
