Unity Health Toronto is embarking on a multi-year digital, clinical transformation project to implement a new electronic patient record solution across all sites.

The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) project is a pillar of enabling exemplary patient experience and quality of care and therefore see this not as an information technology initiative, but as one founded in clinical transformation and care redesign.


Job Profile:


Project Connect is a new Unity Health Toronto (UHT) initiative created to implement a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Epic.

The projects mandate is the integration of clinical practice, education, technology, information management, and data to assist in the management of UHTs Clinical Systematics team.

The Project Connect team applies the principals of clinical informatics to inform, advise and guide the strategy for the EPR design, build, training, and implementation.

This position will report to the Manager, EPR Education Delivery with accountabilities to Change Management and Education Portfolio.

The Training Project Manager is responsible for the planning, developing and implementing of all training logistic activities for end users.

This also includes supporting the training team, creating and maintaining training schedules, updating training project plan, and creating training status reports pertaining to end user training.


Main Responsibilities:

Training Scheduling and Coordination

  • Liaises with Manager and Director of Change Management and Education to obtain the vision/goal for training scheduling and coordination; utilizes information received to facilitate the planning, development and implementation of all training logistic activities.
  • Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of training activities, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of training logistics, scheduling and coordination.
  • Perform all training logistic activities with mínimal disruption to the Hospital via hospitalwide communication when impacted and proactive execution of duties
  • Collaborate with reporting Manager to identify and maintain training room reservations to support in
- person training.

  • Develop and maintain a training calendar and schedule to support readiness activities, pertaining to training of over 12,000 end users, outlining upcoming training sessions, workshops, and orientations for different roles.
  • Upload training schedules to the hospital's Learning Management System (LMS) and create training tracks based on various roles outlining prerequisite elearning, inperson training, end user proficiency test and post class training exercises.
Learning Management System Management

  • Serve as the EPR primary administrator of the hospital's Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure consistent procedure and method is followed in updating and adding new training content.
  • Maintain and update training courses, modules, and curriculum within the LMS platform in collaboration with Training team.
  • Create and communicate weekly LMS training status reports of end users, outlining training milestone, risks, issues and timelines to ensure.
  • Collaborate and liaise with Stakeholders to ensure endusers are signedup for applicable training track based on various roles to support EPR golive readiness.
  • Review LMS training reports for progress and in consultation with Manager create mitigation plans for identified risk and issues.
Training Support

  • Support the hiring process for training team positions to ensure the project team possesses the required technical and other relevant skills to contribute to the success of EPR training.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and advancement in quality improvement processes and techniques in order to provide recommendations for changes and improvements that will optimally impact the quality of work performed
  • Implements appropriate systems to support the day to day delivery of training logistic activities, acting as a mentor to facilitate the provision of excellence in work activities
  • Provide training and support to staff members, peers and stakeholders in how to navigate training tracks based on roles, signup and completion of training status on LMS.
Performs cross-functional and other duties as assigned and/or requested
