Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative leader for the position of Administrative Director, Medicine to provide clinical and administrative direction and leadership of the Medicine program in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Chief of Medicine.

The Administrative Director is responsible for directing the delivery of high quality, evidence-based, patient-focused, and fiscally responsible care or service that is consistent with the corporate and program strategic direction.

KEY FUNCTION:


Provide clinical and administrative direction and leadership of the Medicine program in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Chief of Medicine.

Direct the delivery of high quality, evidence-based, patient-focused, and fiscally responsible care or service that is consistent with the corporate and program strategic direction.


REPORTING:

Under the general direction of the Vice President, Medicine and Chief Nursing Executive.


DUTIES:


  • Direct and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of short and longterm plans, goals, and objectives for the Medicine program that reflect the strategic direction and academic mission of HSN and respond to the needs of patients, the organization and community.
  • Ensure the availability and delivery of quality inpatient services within the available resources.
  • Provide leadership in the development of new services and initiatives that respond to current and future needs of Sudbury and the North East region.
  • Achieve HSN, regional and provincial performance targets.
  • Develop annual operating plans that align with HSN's programs and directives, and ensure that the program stays within budget; advocate and secure resources for initiatives/process improvement.
  • Initiate and lead change effectively within the program and provide support across the organization for change that aligns with HSN's strategic directions.
  • Promote professional practice compliance with professional, accreditation, ethical, and legal standards.
  • Ensure that patient, family, and clinical staff education programs are coordinated in partnership within the organization and the community.
  • Research, identify, and oversee the implementation of best practice standards and innovative solutions to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Create an environment that promotes evidencebased practice and implement improvements/changes as required.
  • Promote and implement activities related to patient, family, and health care worker safety.
  • Establish systems to ensure that the program and staff provide expected and satisfactory outcomes as outlined by HSN, comparator data, and evidencebased practice.
  • Establish plans and processes for recruitment and develop succession plans for key positions within the program.
