Key Responsibilities


Under the direction of the Evidence Management Supervisor, maintains, stores and releases property and exhibits for the Regina Police Service.


  • Responsible for the receiving, shipping, issuing, storing and recording of all property in an accurate manner, that comes under the jurisdiction of theEvidence Management Supervisor, including the storage and security of DNA evidence, seized drugs, money and jewellery, found articles, bicycles, etc
  • Handles the administration of seized and towed vehicles placed in the police compound and the sale through public auction and disposition of otherproperty.
  • Handles the storage of various pieces of evidence in all forms, including biological, hazardous, and explosive and ensuring they remain viable and meetthe integrity demands of evidence.
  • Administers the purchasing, storing and distributing of stationery store supplies.
  • Deals with the public for the release of property, exhibits, cars, bikes, etc.
  • Liaise with outside agencies including the coroners office, prosecutors office, SCAN, etc. as required.
  • Operates police service vehicles to retrieve found property and bicycles, etc.
  • Forwards correspondence related to found, recovered and seized property.
  • Other related duties as required.
Competencies


  • Grade 12 or Grade 12 equivalent with basic knowledge of police information systems and minimum typing speed of 50 w.p.m.
  • Good knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws as it relates to exhibits and Regina Police Service Policy and Procedures for the release ofproperty and exhibits.
  • Sound decision making and the ability to assess situations, select from alternatives and make sound, reasonable decisions.
  • The ability to deal with general public in a friendly, efficient and professional manner.
  • Must possess the physical strength, mobility and flexibility to perform the duties of the position.
  • The ability to demonstrate attentiveness, meticulousness and exactness to detail particularly in high volume work situations.
  • Experience with Windows functionality and MS Office. Experience with inventory systems an asset.
  • Must possess valid Class 5 Novice 1 (minimum) drivers' license.
