The Opportunity


The Benefits Program Branch administers benefits plan such as Deferred Salary leave, Dental Plans, Disability Income, Extended Health Care, and Group Life to nearly 150 different employees.

These employees include Executive Government, Crown Corporations and various Agencies, Boards and Commissions under the Lieutenant Governor in Council.


The Benefits Program Branch is seeking a proficient individual with excellent interpersonal skills to join the tram as a Disability Income Plan Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager of Disability Income, the Disability Income Plan Coordinator is responsible for:

  • The coordination, administration, ongoing development and implementation of rehabilitation/return-to-work initiatives for the Government of Saskatchewan Disability Income Plan;
  • Serving as a liaison between Plannera, participating employers, disability claimants, unions and other key stakeholders;
  • Administering the Disability Income Plan in compliance with established policies and procedures with diplomacy and discretion;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of rehabilitation activities and returntowork initiatives implemented by thirdparty rehabilitation consulting firms to ensure financial resources are being allocated appropriately;
  • Ensuring existing audit and financial controls/requirements are met by monitoring disability payment audits;
  • Preparing correspondence and compile statistical data for release to external users; and
  • Any other duties as appropriate.
  • The ability to identify, clarify and analyze relevant issues, concerns or problems in order to provide options/recommendations and/or to implement solutions in a timely fashion;
  • Ability to listen, accurately comprehend and orally respond to inquiries from clients, other agencies or other stakeholders and/or relay information, directions or questions in person or over the phone in an accurate, clear, concise and courteous manner;
  • Ability to verbally and in writing provide clear, concise and timely information in response to often complex inquiries at a level appropriate to the recipient.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through the completion of:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Relevant experience in returntowork, disability case management and/or vocational rehabilitation; and
  • Applied knowledge and/or experience in the benefits plan administration.

This competition will be used to create an eligibility list that will be valid for up to six months and will be used to staff current and future permanent and term opportunities.
