Levitt-Safety is recruiting for a Shop Technician to inspect and maintain fire and life safety equipment such as extinguishers, cylinders, breathing apparatus, and other equipment that keeps our customers safe in Edmonton.
About the RoleBased primarily in our shop in Edmonton, you will be provided full training to support our customers and mobile technicians.
You will build your career with us through formal technical training and certifications from our manufacturers, as well as hands-on training with our experienced team.
Main Responsibilities- General shop duties will include:
- Maintenance and repair of fire extinguishers
- Hydrotesting of various extinguishers
- Perform Fall Protection Soft goods inspection
- Repair/maintain/refill supplied and selfcontained breathing apparatus.
- Inspect, install and maintain various types of Fire & Life Safety Equipment systems for a variety of customers. May require occasional onsite pick up or service of customer equipment
- Timely and accurate completion and submission of reports and work orders
- Participate in mandatory safety training and industry certifications
- Maintaining a clean work environment within the branch service areas, service vehicles or customer locations
- Attending offsite training sessions and branch meetings as requested.
- Be an ongoing contributor to the continuous development of Job Hazard Analysis's and Safe Work Practices relevant to the position

- Mechanical aptitude, a passion for safety and great communication skills are the most important qualifications as our new team member
- A valid drivers' license and clean drivers abstract is required
- Experience working in a mechanical shop or equivalent handson role is a strong asset
- Prior customer service experience will help you work effectively with our customers, both internal and external
- You are naturally good with technology, and are used to working with computers and mobile devices
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity is required for this role involving work with all types of equipment, tools, and small parts
