RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, organize, direct and supervise the department program which includes: recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist and volunteers.
Implement and evaluate program relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
Coordinate activities with those of other departments and inform administration of departmental activities, needs and problems.
Develop departmental goals and objects.
Actively participate in program delivery.
Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget.
Satisfy Health Record as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Postsecondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university required
Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative care, Holistic care, Activation and Dementia Care
Minimum three years supervisory experience
Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach
Sufficient Knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multifaith setting is required.
Experience and knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers are required.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English language.
Ability to speak and write Cantonese and or Mandarin an asset
Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards
Previous supervisory experience in long term care an asset
