Description

The Payroll Clerk, under the direction of the HR Manager, will manage full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 100 unionized and non-unionized employees.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Process payroll data into Sage 300 (employee master updates, payroll settings) on a weekly and biweekly basis.
  • Develop strong understanding of CBA to ensure pay is in accordance with company policy and collective agreements.
  • Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Respond to enquiries regarding company policies and government regulations as it relates to payroll.
  • Prepare Terminations and Record of Employments.
  • Prepare pay end cheque requisitions for required remittances (Wage assignments, Health Premiums, WSIB, WCB).
  • Assist in the year end reconciliation of Payroll.
  • Issue reports as required (weekly/monthly/annually).
  • Track vacation entitlement/advise balances and pay outstanding vacation on termination.
  • Responsible for employee files management and relevant records keeping.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

About You:


  • 35 years experience in processing payroll for union and nonunionized work environments.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Sage 300 ERP system is a strong asset.
