Job Number:49953**Is your specialty Landscape Pest Control? We are looking for a qualified individual with a Landscape Pesticide Applicator License to perform services essential to Edmontonians' enjoyment of the outdoors
What will you do?
From May through October, you will work as a Pest Control Operator performing the following duties:
- Participate in the control of noxious, prohibited noxious weeds and other unwanted vegetation found on city parkland
- Investigate and attempt to resolve complaints concerning any of the above vegetation management issues
- Maintain daily chemical record sheets listing what pesticides were used, areas treated and the types of pests encountered
- Conduct general surveys and investigate areas to determine noxious weed locations, infestation levels, and the effectiveness of control programs; prepare reports and maps that outline survey results
- Perform all forms of weed control as required (may include hand pulling or mechanical)
- Pretreatment and posttreatment site inspection, monitoring and evaluation
- Perform minor maintenance/repairs on assigned equipment
- Mentor and coach staff in the field and may have an opportunity to act in the Licensed Crew Leader role as required
- Adhere to existing standard operating procedures, and environmental and safety programs, as well as conduct Field Level Risk Assessments daily
- Complete all required daily paperwork including, but not limited to, daily logs, vehicle and equipment inspections, and Field Level Risk Assessments
- Provide customer service and communicate with the public and other employees professionally and respectfully
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of grade 10
- Pesticide Applicator Certificate (Landscape designation) as issued by the Province of Alberta
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of City of Edmonton Parks Operations hazard assessment and controls, proper pesticide use, and current industry standards
- Ability to use and perform minor maintenance of spraying equipment
- Ability to make decisions, assign tasks and supervise; and coach and mentor the work of subordinates
- Ability to maintain records and prepare written reports
- Ability to work in a team environment

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
_ Up to 3 permanent full-time positions and 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months are available_
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary Range:
$ $ Hourly); $49, $68, Annually)
