Opportunity - Winter 2024 Co-op


Do you have passion for the financial markets, the desire to work closely in support of client investment goals, and the ability to think outside the box? We are seeking a talented Co-op Student to join the Client Investment Strategy function who can deliver best-in-class applied quantitative research and corresponding tools.

This team brings together AIMCo clients needs and a broad range of strategic solutions across asset classes.


Responsibilities:


  • Preparing, configuring, analyzing and documenting assetliability or strategic asset allocation information for the development of client investment strategy advice
  • Preparing insightful data visualizations to effectively inform and influence decision makers
  • Assisting in gathering data and statistical modelling
  • Working collaboratively with departments such as Client Management, Client Risk Management, Investment Strategy teams to peer review one another's work, provide effective debate to findings and to explore creative solutions to unique challenges
  • Preparing written materials and presentations for the effective delivery and communication of investment strategy advice to clients and to provide education and transparency into the Client Investment Strategy function
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Engineering or related)
  • Enrolled in a work experience/ internship program
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required. Experience with software programming language (R or Python), database programming (SQL) and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is an asset
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Effective analytical, organization, time management and communication skills
  • Actuarial, Investment Management or Investment Consulting exposure would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of pension plans management, regulatory environment, actuarial models and statistical/econometrics methods are an asset
  • Demonstrates a commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success:


You will have a deep understanding of AIMCo's client structure and client investment strategies, build collaborative relationships through cross-functional teams and begin taking on a key role in providing advisory services to key stakeholders across the organization.
