JOB SUMMARY:


The Manager Culture, Equity and Belonging plays a key leadership role supporting Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) to develop and advance a DEI strategy and multi-year action plan.

The incumbent will assist QCH in fostering an inclusive and respectful culture that values diversity and empowers employees, physicians and volunteers to contribute to their full potential and feel a sense of belonging in all they do.

The incumbent is a creative and strategic thinker and can work with a wide range of people to develop tactical plans to support transformational change.

The Manager will evolve and drive the roadmap for diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).

The Manager is a trusted partner who will co-create programs and services designed to support, strengthen and sustain QCH's internal diversity and inclusion strategies.

The incumbent is a confident leader with demonstrated experience collecting and synthesizing input from stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement, proposing creative and pragmatic solutions, and thoughtfully designing process rollouts through a LEAN/change management lens.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Equity, Diversity and Belonging Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization across departments to develop focused and impactful diversity, equity, inclusion antiracism and antioppression policies, procedures and programming, responsive to the needs of the organization
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the multiyear DE&I strategy and moving forward the initiatives
  • Support the work of QCH's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Allyship Council and affinity groups
  • Work with leaders to support the embedding of diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism and antioppression across employee lifecycle, including talent management practices such as recruitment, selection, onboarding, leadership development, recognition, succession planning, and performance management
  • Strategize and operationalize diversity, inclusion and wellness calendar events including recognition awards
  • Keep up to date and advise on industry trends and developments
  • When required, act as the department representative for internal or external committees and special events

Staff and Physician Engagement**:


  • Coordinate the Employee and Physician Engagement and Pulse Surveys in addition to associated departmental action plans
  • Lead the design and implementation of DE&I measurement and reporting frameworks including inclusion and representation surveys
  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies to promote and foster a learning organization
  • Create trusting relationships with people leaders to build inclusion capabilities across the entire talent management lifecycle

Accessibility:


  • Develops and maintains short
- and medium-term accessibility plans

  • Develops and updates relevant policies, as required

REQUIREMENTS:


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (equity and diversity studies, human rights, sociology, human resources) or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience managing, developing and successfully implementing policies, programs and curriculums in diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism and antioppression and demonstrated experience in leading transformational change
  • Threetofive (35) years' experience working with diverse and underrepresented populations, including program development and/or project management focused on structural or systemic change
  • Skilled at engaging in matters that require sensitivity and empathy across a diverse community; excellent judgement and discretion
  • Experience developing tools/instruments for assessing diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g. surveys, interview/focus group questions)
  • Experience analyzing measures of diversity, equity and inclusion (e.g. surveys, interview/focus group questions) and developing recommendations
