About Us:


The mission of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is to support Faculties and programs in providing high quality, innovative graduate programs, attracting high quality graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, and expanding graduate education at Western.

The professional staff serve as a comprehensive resource on graduate matters, accountable to all graduate programs and students.


Responsibilities:


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • 2 year Community College Diploma in Office Administration
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • Experience:
  • 2 years of experience providing administrative support and customer service in an academic environment
  • Experience working in a graduate education environment preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with financial procedures and processes (e.g. Journal entries, tracking expenses, reconciliation of accounts)
  • Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve external and internal partner issues
  • Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, faculty members, students and the public
  • Judgment and creative problemsolving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to complete accurate calculations
