Indigenous Internship Program


The Indigenous Internship Program (IIP) is a 12-month paid internship program designed to provide recent Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) post-secondary graduates, with the opportunity to gain professional level work experience and a pathway through which they can build and develop transferable skills that can be used to gain sustained employment in their field of choice.

You must self-identify as an Indigenous person to be eligible for this program.

The term Indigenous refers to individuals who identify as being descended from the original inhabitants (the first peoples) of what is now known as Canada.

In this context, Indigenous people are First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit.

What can I expect to do in this role?:

As an Indigenous I&IT Intern, you will:

  • Work within the Land and Resources Cluster to support planning and analytical work related to our 7 partner ministries
  • Write, edit and maintain user requirements or needs in order to inform solutioning
  • Support the branch in the development, coordination, maintenance, review, and reporting of I&IT plans or portfolios
  • Perform data and information analysis to understand and document key insights
  • Perform information consolidation and curation in order to inform briefing materials and presentations
  • Use relevant information and a strategic lens to develop presentations or reports for the executive audience, related to I&IT
  • Coordinate and prepare ITrelated materials for various activities and governance commitments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate and meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes
  • Pull and analyze data from disparate sources to provide information to support decisionmaking in a coordinated fashion

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You must have graduated or will complete the requirements to graduate with a degree, diploma or postgraduate certificate from a recognized or legally authorized postsecondary institution in the last five years (May 2018August 2023).
  • You must selfidentify as an Indigenous person.

  • You must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
