Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a
Manager, Supplier Quality.


As the Head of Supplier Quality for Irving Shipbuilding Inc., you will be responsible for developing and optimizing our Supply Chain Quality Management System, approving and validating Suppliers and ensuring high levels of Quality performance.

You will work closely with our Supply Chain teams to develop a Supplier Quality Program while building the capability and capacity in the Quality team through training, coaching and mentorship.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or equivalent
  • ASQ certification (CMQ/OE, CQA or CQE)
  • ISO 9001 knowledge
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Management, Supplier Development, or relevant roles
  • 5+ years of supervisory and leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System standards (e.g. ISO 9001) would be an asset
  • Experience working in Defence, Naval, Shipbuilding, Aerospace and/or other major industrial manufacturing environments deemed an asset
  • All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop a world class Supplier Quality Management System and develop a capable and value adding team of Quality Professionals
  • Collaborate with Quality Professionals across the ISI Business to ensure a consistent approach to systems and policy development.
  • Deliver training where necessary, including BMM/Process orientation and refreshers for new staff
  • Work with the Procurement Specialists to provide Quality input throughout the sourcing process to include;
  • Tailoring of each Procurement Package
  • Assessing Request for Information (RFI) responses
  • Assessing Supplier Proposals
  • Undertaking Supplier assessments to ensure they meet our requirements
  • Develop processes within the QMS to validate and approve suppliers (Approved Supplier List) along with a plan to maintain such approvals
  • Develop a supplier development plan to ensure suppliers are compliant and addressing any relevant gaps
  • Ensure that delivered Supplier Quality requirements are achieved
  • Identify customer concerns and lead in the effective deployment of corrective and preventative actions; review and approve Containment and Correction action plans for Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Develop tools to measure and analyze supplier performance including nonconformances and corrective / preventative actions
  • Responsible for the overall Supply Chain quality strategy; lead a team of SC quality specialists to develop, execute, control, and maintain ISI's Supply Chain Quality Processes
  • Ensure operational compliance to Business Management Model (BMM) processes across the function and readiness for Quality and Process audits across the Supply Chain function.
  • Coordinate process confirmation audits and effective deployment of corrective action
  • Ensure compliance to all certification requirements (ISO 9001:2015, FMI, etc.); conduct internal audits to ensure that ISI follows their Quality Management System and certification requirements
  • Review quality related supplier deliverables (quality plans, certification, concession requests, inspection test plans, etc.) to ensure that they follow ISI's supplier Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)
  • Develop and refine approach to Quality Inspection at receipt, based on commodity or equipment characteristics
