The
Data Architecture COE plays a key role in enabling digital business ambitions.

In doing so, we require advanced skills that will help us execute the data strategy, leverage new methods and tools by designing solutions that will move us to a data driven, digital organization.

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect, who can provide solution design and direction to achieve the data strategy, evolve our data management and analytics capabilities taking into considerations technical, governance and organizational implications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides thought leadership and technical direction for data & analytics teams.
  • Leads and contributes to:
  • The definition of reference architectures for data management & analytics capabilities such as master data management, machine learning/analytics operations (ML/A Ops),data quality management, metadata management, etc.
  • The design of solution architectures, definition of standards, design patterns, etc. for data& analytics platforms
  • The definition of data architecture standards, guidelines, and principles for the enterprise.
  • The design of data solution architectures, data models and data flows for transformational and operational initiatives
  • The execution on Proof of Concepts (PoC) or Proof of Technology (PoT) using a design thinking approach to ensure desirability, feasibility and viability of architectural components
  • The development and maintenance the enterprise data model (conceptual and logical) and data lineage
  • Fulfills data architecture governance functions by:
  • Reviewing and approving solution designs validating adherence to design patterns and standards
  • Monitoring solutions deployed on data and analytics platforms to ensure standards, design patterns and solution architectures are being followed
  • Defining remediation plans when uncovering deviant solutions or usage
  • Working collaboratively with data governance analysts to ensure data management activities are compliant with governance standards.
  • Develops creative solutions, evaluating trade offs to:Minimize investment in legacy platforms and technical debt
  • Maximize time to value taking a mínimal viable product (MVP) approach while ensuring transition to target future state
  • Works closely with other domain architects (i.e. integration, cloud, security, solution, etc.) and project delivery teams to drive alignment with the design decisions made and ensure consistency of implementations with architecture principles and standards
  • Defines innovative migration and conversion strategies by leveraging existing technology platforms and capabilities

Requirements:


  • Support Database Decommissioning & Migration: rearchitect, rebuild & replace legacy on premises data marts and pipelines with modern cloud enabled data pipelines and data products within the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)
  • Assess and redesign data solutions leveraging a mixture of core capabilities leveraging Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Synapse, Microsoft Purview, Denodo, Infosphere Data Architect \ Erwin \ ER/Studio, Azure DevOps (Agile/Kanban), Informatica MDM
  • Architecture Knowledge Management Content Curation: Maintain Architecture Decision Records Management, Reference Architecture, Design Patterns, and capture remedial plans in support of upcoming and future data solutions
  • In depth technical expert knowledge with a track record of successful results on leading, designing, and implementing largescale data management/transformation programs
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methods
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps, DataOps, Machine Learning/Analytics Ops
  • MBA or University degree in a related business field
  • Project Management / Product Ownership Experience
  • Bilingualism in both official languages (English & French)
  • Experience in various data technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, ADLS, PowerBI, Denodo, SQL Server/Oracle DBMS, Azure Purview, IBM Infosphere (IGC, DataStage, Data Architect, etc.), Azure Event Hub/Grid, Spark, Azure Databricks, Cognos Analytics, SAS Viya, Azure Portal, Office 365, ERWin/ER Studio, Informatica MDM
  • Data Management Book of Knowledge (DAMA-DMBoK)
  • Agile training (eg. PMI-ACP, DASM)

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
