  • Pacific Community Resources Society is seeking a Youth Employment Specialist for the YESS EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FOR NEWCOMERS who will also provide support to other PCRS employment programs as well as Newton Youth Hub where the program will be based. The position is responsible for employment counselling of program participants, organizing and delivering life and employability skills workshops, supporting participants in their work experience and employment across the Lower Mainland, and promoting the program within the community. Additionally, the position will create new employer connections and take part in community events as well as liaise with stakeholders and funders.
  • This position will be responsible for meeting the specific targets and outcomes set by the funders, maintaining consistent records and tracking data to report out on the program participants to both funders and PCRS Management.
  • This position has a flexible work schedule which includes the opportunity to work from home. The position requires the ability to work on some evenings and weekends based on participant availability and requires a vehicle to travel to various employment sites. The main program hours are 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
  • Responsibilities
  • B.A. or a degree in a related field; Career development practitioner certificate plus 3 years related experience.
  • Additionally, this position requires:
  • High level of selfmotivation and independent thought
  • Ability to promote and market the program through building strong connections within the community
  • Strong ability to connect with multibarriered youth as their job coach.
  • Strong facilitation skills that maintain youth interest and motivation
  • Computer skills including the use of Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Qualifications
  • Familiarity with employment assessments
  • Motivational interviewing and solutionfocused support
  • Life and employability coaching as well as understanding the impacts of trauma, addictions, & family systems.
  • Training and experience using database software to maintain accurate client records.
  • Understanding and working with the complex needs of participants who are new to Canada.
