_Job Summary:
_


  • Supports QC Laboratory and Operations by performing the duties as described below.
  • Supports QC Laboratory with all activities related to handling samples destined for analytical testing. Acts as Reference standard Coordinator and handles all activities related to the Reference Standards.

_Responsibilities:
_


  • The duties of the QC Intern involve, but not limited to, the following:
  • 1. Responsible for receiving, inspection, and logging all the samples that are sent to ARA
  • Avanti Rx Analytics Inc. for analysis.
  • 2. Receives, logs, distributes, controls, and maintains inventory of all laboratory standards. Ensures all standard usage is logged and all standards are stored according to the requirements.
  • 3. Performs sampling of the raw materials according to related SOPs
  • 4. Assists analysts by distributing samples and standards.
  • 5. Assures that cannabis sample is logged and returned to the vault after usage.
  • 6.
Performs the following with respect to the Stability Program:


  • Obtains stability samples from the client (if applicable) or ARA Operations
  • Labels and incubates samples
  • Updates Stability Chamber Inventory Logbook(s)
  • Removes samples from the Stability Chamber(s) at the defined time points / dates
  • 7. Acts as backup for Lab Support Technician and assists with reagent and consumables receipts, when requested.
  • Performs daily calibration of laboratory balances, pH meters and performs pipette verification.
  • Changes charts on chart recorders weekly.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of water system, reporting TOC and resistivity values and outsourcing water testing as per SOP requirements.
  • Responsible for glassware cleaning, drying, and arranging glassware on the shelves
  • 8. Performs chemistry analysis such as Description, Loss on Drying, pH, TLC, titrations, HPLC etc. upon request.
  • 9. Ensures that all work is performed in compliance with GMPs, GLPs, SOPs and established regulatory requirements.
  • 10. Promptly notifies QC Supervisor /Designate of any anomalies, observations, which may impact the accuracy /validity of data.
  • 11. Works as an effective team member to meet departmental goals, sharing knowledge with team members and across QC.
  • 12. Maintains compliance to all health and safety standards.
  • 13. Establishes and maintains effective and professional working relationships with team members and other ARA employees.

_Qualifications:
_


  • Currently enrolled in third or fourth year of a science related diploma or degree (BSc., MSc.) program.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of commonly used computer programs (Excel, Word)
  • Experience in a GMP laboratory environment is an asset.
