About the Pet Cancer Foundation:


The Pet Cancer Foundation's vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer.

Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.


We need to do more to help our furry friends, and our new website will play a major role in providing the much searched-for information that pet owners need to help their pets live healthier, longer lives.

As part of that effort, our team requires the help of experienced or aspiring medical or veterinary research professionals, to assist in our literature review for new website content.

About the Position:


The
volunteer Research Assistant assists our website editorial project teams with a variety of tasks relating to the development of content for our website.

This includes searching and compiling primary and secondary sources of data including veterinary medical research studies, listings of accredited professionals and businesses, and other various information needs that pertain to pet health and animal cancers.

The Research Assistant will be required to document and compile their results by preparing spreadsheets or organizing the data into formats that others will use to complete a range of assignments.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with information resourcing duties related to the production of website content
  • Performs research work online, through interviews, libraries, archives, or whatever method may be appropriate to locate highly credible source material
  • Gathers and analyzes veterinary medical research information, ensuring it is formatted for ease of use by others
  • Research and prepares various materials for team members to utilize in their writing efforts, including participation in the grading and review of research manuscripts, as part of the evaluation process
  • Attends project conference calls when required
  • Prepares articles, reports, and presentations when assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned, when essential to the research activities of the supervisor or project team

About You:


  • A Master's Degree and some experience in literature review would be beneficial, however university/ college students working towards their undergraduate degree in a science or healthrelated discipline are welcome to apply
  • Some experience writing technical medicalrelated content and source material search for same is preferred
  • Ability to identify, review, and analyze topicspecific research literature
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • High level of competency in Microsoft office (word and power point )
  • Datadriven and analytical mindset
  • High attention to detail

  • This is a volunteer position and the time commitment is approximately 46 hours per week.
  • This position is virtual and completed from anywhere in Canada or the United States.
  • This role may require additional hours from time to time and your flexibility to adapt is a must.
