Position Summary
Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief provides leadership
and strategic direction while advancing a positive and engaged workplace.
Responsible for the management of assigned department divisions: Fire
Prevention, Suppression and Training. Responsible for the development and
management of departmental policies, goals and priorities. Perform statutory
duties of the Fire Chief & CEMC in the Fire Chief's absence.

**The City of Thorold invites you to submit your resume if you possess: University Degree or an Accredited College Diploma in Fire Services
Administration/Management, Public or Business Administration or another
relevant discipline or equivalent

Ten (10) or more years of experience with five (5) years as a Senior
Officer with relevant labour relation experience in a unionized municipal
fire service or equivalent

Five (5) years experience as a senior officer with relevant labour relations
experience

Certified:
NFPA1021 Fire Officer IV, NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector I, NFPA
1033 Fire Investigator, and NFPA 1035 Public Information Officer

NFPA 921 Fire and Explosion Investigations, EM 300 certification and
Ministry of Labour Health & Safety Level 2 would be an asset

Sound knowledge and awareness of the Fire Protection and Prevention
Act, Ontario Fire and Building Codes, the Occupational Health and Safety
Act, Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and other relevant
legislation

Proven Fire Command experience and formal training in Fire specific
regimens (e.g. Incident Command System)

Demonstrated initiative, time and project management skills

Well developed coaching, supervisory and leadership skills.

Demonstrated effective leadership and decision-making skills.

The ability to work in a team environment, liaison with key internal and
external stakeholders and to function effectively with mínimal supervision

Demonstrated professional, proven customer service skills, as well as
highly developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Attention to detail with proven research, data analysis and report writing
skills

Proficiency in MS Office Suite with the ability to adapt quickly to
applicable software

A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.
Valid drivers' license with DZ endorsement or higher with driving record

What the City can offer you:
The City offers a competitive yearly salary ranging from
$119,991.00 to

$139,951.00 (35 hours per week).
