Steward/dishwasher

You make the kitchen shine and understand that spotless be it flatware, dishes, pots, a stove or the actual kitchen itself is essential as both guests and associates rely on the stewarding department for their continued good health.
You are a
Kitchen Steward and in that role you will:


  • Be a Details Person
  • ensuring the cleanliness of all dishware, service ware, cookware, utensils and related, including polishing stainless and silverware as needed. In this role you will carefully wash by hand and/or safely and skillfully operate the dish machine while keeping your wash area organized.

Understand Clean and Sanitary - maintaining the kitchen by keeping all equipment - ovens, floors, walls, walk ins, vents, cooking services, trash bins, etc. - clean and sanitary. From time to time you will be asked to do deep cleaning projects to keep all up to standards.

Be a Safety & Security Agent - follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures as well as all OSHA guidelines, reporting issues to maintenance and/or security.


Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts; morning, evening, overnight, weekdays, weekends and holidays
  • Previous dishwashing experience required.
  • Previous experience in cleaning kitchen equipment preferred.
  • Previous janitorial experience preferred.
  • Sanitation certification preferred.
  • Long hours sometimes required.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:


  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, loading dock area and cafeteria floor according to WHMIS regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the main kitchen and banquet kitchen floors according to WHMIS regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Sanitize kitchen equipment, pots, etc. according to WHMIS regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Store clean items in designated areas.
  • Arrange kitchen equipment including machines in designated areas after cleaning.
  • Set up working areas and utensils as required.
  • Stock kitchen, restaurant, banquet and service areas with designated wares, utensils and equipment.
  • Report any shortages to the Head Utility Attendant or supervisor.
  • Check working conditions of equipment and machinery according to specifications, and notify Head Utility Attendant or supervisor of any damage or misuse of equipment.
  • Deliver dirty linen from the kitchen area to the laundry department.
  • Transport garbage and recycling items from work area to the compactor and recycling area.
  • Assist with the plating of banquet meals.
  • Assist with inventory counts of china, glass, silver, and other equipment.
  • Establish and maintain good communication, teamwork, and working relationship with fellow employees and departments within the hotel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
