We are looking for a General Labourer - Shop Technician at our Walker Grease Trap Services - Toronto location.


Position Summary


As a Shop Technician, you will be responsible for working in a manner to prevent "adverse effects", minimizing nuisances and the potential for complaints.

The role involves complying with the Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) on a regular basis, in addition to all established health and safety procedures
.


This is a unionized hourly position with various early morning and afternoon shift options with an expectation of 44 hour work weeks (overtime after 44 hours).

Starting Rate:
$19.78 with two annual increases per year over the first 4 years


Major (Primary) Responsibilities:


  • Offloading organic residual material from trucks into the plant for processing.
  • Decanting water from decant tanks through the Treatment System for discharge into the municipal sewer.
  • Loading feedstock onto trucks for transportation to Anaerobic Digesters.
  • Periodically completing feedstock runs to the Anaerobic Digester
  • Washing truck, hoses and valves. Cleaning portable units
  • Refueling trucks.
  • Report any mechanical deficiencies for maintenance and repairs.
  • Performing daily workplace inspections to maintain the work area to comply with superior safety culture
  • Truck vacuum equipment maintenance as per Case Files assigned by the Management.
  • Routine maintenance of plant equipment and other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications:


  • Clean drivers abstract and criminal background check
  • Fluent in English (ability to speak, read and write English)
  • Customer service experience
  • Must be physically fit and able to perform the work involved and lift 50lbs
  • Experience operating a vacuum truck an asset
