How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Supervisor, Conservation Parks manages Toronto and Region Conservation Authority's (TRCA's) variety of public-use conservation parks, campgrounds, golf facilities and/or recreational facilities.

This position supervises, mentors, and leads a diverse team to effectively carry out day-to-day operations, programming, and maintenance.

Additionally, this position plays an integral role in overall risk management and ensures that TRCA's public-use facilities meet or surpass regulated standards to offer safe, functional, and welcome environments for all visitors, customers, and staff.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Uses superior knowledge in parks operations and facility management, as well as professional expertise, to ensure the safe and successful operation of multiple revenuegenerating conservation parks and associated recreational facilities.
  • Supervises daytoday operations of large conservation parks and related facilities according to service standards.
  • Leads site assessments and risk management activities, developing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual general maintenance plans for routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Responds to, investigates, resolves and prioritizes issues, inquiries and complaints pertaining to park and facility operations (i.e., related to infrastructure, events, contracts and programs); provides information and/or identifies and implements a remedial course of action when required to resolve operational/safety issues or diffuse situations.
  • Performs Provincial Offences Officer duties, as required.
  • Coordinates and manages public programs and events, working closely with corporate and community partners, project coordinators, and event planners to identify program/event specifications, support event logistics and mitigate conflicts with other site operations and programs.
  • Works in conjunction internal stakeholders to conceptualize, develop, implement and evaluate annual and multiyear maintenance/infrastructure management plans, operations plans, and business plans.
  • Oversees the successful coordination and completion of small
- and large-scale special events and functions.

  • Oversees the coordination, implementation and management of sitespecific regulatory programs, special events and related practices.
  • Collaborates with TRCA's Fleet and Equipment team to ensure equipment and tools are available on site as required, ensuring the safe operation, inspection and maintenance of all required equipment and tools.
  • Oversees and leads the safe operation of fleet vehicles, utility vehicles, heavy machinery, and small and large equipment for project related work, providing training to staff as required.
  • Coordinates vehicle inspections and maintenance in conjunction with the Fleet and Equipment team; maintains accurate records and requests as required.
  • Arranges for contractors to assist with operations, maintenance and repair of grounds and facilities when the work is outside of the scope, ability or equipment requirements of TRCA staff.
  • Leads a team in daily / weekly duties within a business unit/division or at a site, delegating tasks and supporting the development of the people on the team.
  • Leads a team of staff and ensures that team members understand expectations; communicates schedule, tasks, and discusses priorities of items.
  • Communicates with team members regularly to assess workload and status of activities, amends work and reassigns staff as needed to direct workflow and accommodate for any situational circumstances.
  • Supports onboarding and provides on the job training and support as needed for individuals; also identifies any gaps in or potential improvement areas for training, development, process, resources, or procedures.
  • Manages employee performance and individual team performance.
  • Supports a culture of workplace equity and inclusion that celebrates diversity.
  • Ensures business processes are streamlined, documented and cascaded to team members.
