POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you an organized and dedicated professional looking to grow your payroll career? Are you looking to gain experience coordinating HR functions? If so, the Payroll and HR Administrator position is for you
Colas Canada is seeking an ambitious Payroll Administrator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator will manage end-to-end payroll and onboarding documentation for multiple employee groups. You will bring motivation, adaptability, and innovation across various payroll and administrative functions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


PAYROLL:

  • Process payroll for Colas Canada's Western Canada subsidiaries' salaried employees (approx. 250)
  • Review calculations to ensure accuracy is maintained throughout the payroll cycle
  • Submit Timecards and One-Time Overrides in payroll system (JDE)
  • Submit journal entries and investigate journal issues when necessary
  • Submit payroll for approval and transmit payment file to bank website
  • Transfer payroll reports to appropriate departments
  • Complete Records of Employment for terminated employees
  • Process Interim (offcycle) payrolls as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements for payroll
  • Implement features and procedures to enhance the payroll workflow
  • Complete yearend processing (Reconciliation and issuing of T4s)

  • Process Invoices
  • Annual Benefits Renewal
  • Service Awards
  • Manage HR inbox, respond to and direct inquiries to appropriate team member

WHAT YOU BRING:


  • Post-Secondary Degree/diploma in Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • 13 years of payroll experience.
  • Highly organized with a strong professionalism and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong knowledge of Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas)
  • Experience using JD Edwards or a similar payroll platform
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or in progress
  • Bilingual French and English is an asset
