  • Provide advice, guidance and direction for training and power users contributions consistent with Cornerstone project goals, the high performance utility model and industry best practices. Review, analyze and recommend initiatives for human performance to reflect changes in Hydro One strategy, new initiatives, identified corrective actions, or as required by shareholder(s) and regulator. Develop/implement the extent/type of human performance activities Hydro One requires to meet its strategic objectives; including benchmarking/best practices, operational improvements, new technology, Cornerstone project goals, root cause analysis, etc.
  • Manage the implementation of training and power user contributions by maintaining effective working relationships with staff of all Business Units and corporate groups to ensure compliance, identify corrective actions and improvement opportunities for the attainment of Cornerstone benefits.
  • Provide expertise and advise on human performance issues, including assisting with external information exchanges, benchmarking, and in development external contracts related to the Cornerstone assets and related human performance.
  • Work closely and continually with all parts of Hydro One to ensure technical skills and training capabilities are provided to line of business process owners and champions in support of process improvements.
  • Deal frequently with other utilities in Canada and the United States, industry associations vendors and consultants and standards authorities to discuss training and human performance issues, opportunities or trends.
  • Provide advice and assist with implementation and adoption of the corporate business process capabilities and technologies. Provide direction to the all lines of business and corporate groups. Liaise with other enablement staff to execute enablement activities.
  • Carry out human performance analysis and prepare reports with specific focus in the attainment of the Cornerstone benefits and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate work or activities of vendors, consultants, and other Utility exchanges and RFP processes on changes and improvements to Cornerstone assets and required human performance activities.
  • Implement and maintain processes, tools, and systems necessary to increase the rate and speeds with which improved performance practices are adopted into Hydro One's businesses. Assess the effectiveness of human performance in Hydro One and make recommendations on necessary changes. Transfer knowledge and expertise to assist the rest of the organization in implementing required business process.
  • Monitor power users and their contributions across Hydro One. Provide support, expertise and guidance to power users and ensure their ongoing capability.
  • Maintain the training curriculum and materials developed and utilized as part of the Cornerstone project and update material as required.
  • Perform detailed analysis of business process compliance in Hydro One, including the identification and interpretation of trends from results and measures that are directly or indirectly affected by human performance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria:


Education:


  • Requires a knowledge of human resource management including performance management, training and development, for the purpose of designing and developing training programs.
  • Requires a knowledge of English and technical writing skills, to prepare reports and to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years).

Experience:


  • Requires experience in the company to be familiar with the overall operation, functions of major organizational groups and performance practices, relationship to the external environment.
  • Requires practical experience related to the overall power system design, management and control.
  • Requires experience and understanding of the SAP and related computer technology.
  • Requires experience in working with other utilities and benchmarking associations to establish data definition and exchange, measurement design, and benchmarking processes.
  • Requires experience with leadership skills to effectively lead, manage and facilitate teams.
