This position is based in Inuvik; Canada's largest community north of the Arctic Circle.

Education:


  • Graduation from postsecondary studies (minimum 2year program) in marketing, tourism, recreation, leisure or museum studies, or other discipline relevant to the position or acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency


Experience:


  • Experience in the implementation, coordination and analysis of Visitor Experience programs, projects or operations
  • Experience in project coordination which includes procurement, contracting and time management
  • Experience in matching target market and audience needs to visitor experience opportunities;
  • Experience in collaborating with staff, partners and stakeholders in the context of visitor experience operations.

Information on language requirements


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the relevant Indigenous land claim and protected area agreements and cooperative management principles and practices in the Western Arctic;
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, practices, tools and techniques associated with the analysis and evaluation of visitor experience opportunities;

Abilities:

  • Ability to analyse issues and opportunities and develop creative solutions;
  • Ability to work with multifunctional teams;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and crosscultural settings involving a range of Indigenous groups, government and cooperative management bodies and other partners and stakeholders

Personal Suitability:

  • An effective leader who takes responsibility, makes things happen and exercises sound judgment.

Operational Requirements:

  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;

  • Possession of a valid Driver's license OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid Driver's license within the limits of the Treasury Board
