Description

The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms.

Construction has begun and will take five to six years to complete.

Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colas and Parsons.

Summary:
The Construction Coordinator serves as a link between Construction and other members of the project team. The CC ensures that construction requirements are made known to the Project Team in a timely manner and obtains construction responses to the needs of other members of the Project Team


Responsibilities:


  • The Construction Coordinator reports to the Package Manager and is responsible to:
  • Ensure adherence to Project Safety policies
  • Develop constructability concepts and provide guidance to the design effort during the early phases of the project. Participate in design development and suggest economical construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications, utilizing "lessons learned" from other projects and construction "best practices" Identify potential problem areas or trends and work to improve total installed cost (TIC)
  • Provide technical direction in the field. Coordinate resolution of technical issues between design and field engineering
  • Assist design engineering with setting "conditional release criteria" for change documents such as NCRs, SQs and FCDs
  • Monitor and track design engineering actions items and completeness of design.
  • Assist Design Engineering with interpretation of construction work package scoping to support the construction schedule
  • Participate in project meetings and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings related to execution and deliverables for the project
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring all Track related works on site as per the defined scope of work
  • Provide input to the overall construction execution plan including site layout, temporary facilities, equipment, materials, and construction organization
  • Maintain configuration control: approve change documents (FCDs, NCRs). Initiate and approve as
- built, redlines and field sketches.

  • Performing quantity takeoff and verification for field procured items and progress reporting
  • Interface with Package Manager, Procurement, and superintendents regarding materials required on site.
  • Assist in subcontract formation and evaluations
  • Assist Package Manager in the development of field nonmanual staffing plans
  • Assist Package Manager in the development of a project construction equipment plan
  • Develop projectspecific construction procedures and Instructions as required
  • Assist in issuance of field contracts/subcontracts. Participate in evaluation of contracts/subcontracts
  • Monitor the technical requirements of the work, including quality control/assurance
  • Assist with preparation and review of construction cost estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules
  • Resolve technical issues. Interface with procurement and design engineering to resolve technical issues
  • Quantity verification. Accept the work once it is found to meet the design and quality requirements
  • Monitor closely the stored material with the yard manager to avoid material shortage
  • Implement the quality program
  • Prepare FMRs (Field Material Request_ for permanent plant materials and equipment
  • Maintain configuration control. Generate change documents (FCDs, SQs, NCRs) and asbuilts
  • Drawing and specification control and interpretation
  • Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans for Selfperformed and Subcontracted scopes
  • Acquire construction support when needed
  • Provide administrative direction to Document Control
  • Manage turnover of completed project scopes including preparing all necessary documentation
  • Support development of trends for proposed design changes or any construction engineering change that impacts the cost and schedule of the work
  • Manage survey on site
  • Other duties assigned by Package Manager

Requirements:


  • Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering and construction concepts, practices and procedures with Rail experience an asset
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field from an accredited institution OR related field experience
  • 25 years' demonstrated selfperforming experience in construction field, on large, complex, heavy civil transportation projects (roads and highways, bridges, bridge and tunnel, rail and transit

Skills, Competencies and Attributes

  • Strong communication skills, and ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to work in a cost effective, customerfocused, teambased environment
Valid driver's license, preferably with clean abstract

Must be able to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather, climbing stairs and ladders, steep or slippery terrain, at-heights, noise, dust and moving equipment
