D U T I E S
The School of Indigenous Education is seeking an Instructor, Term, Full-time position. The
incumbent will teach a variety of courses such as Indigenous science, history, and law, while
focusing on individual, land-based education. Duties include teaching various courses in the
department, in addition to developing curriculum and content for courses in Social Innovation and
Community Development.

The primary responsibilities are to deliver high quality instruction, develop relevant and current
lessons, plan and develop course materials using adult learning principles, and use various
assessment methods to evaluate student learning.

  • R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
  • Bachelor's degree in Education/Science; an equivalent combination of education and
- experience may be considered in Science, environment and/or Indigenous Studies
  • Experience in teachings adults in a postsecondary environment
  • Experience with curriculum development, including implementation and assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in team environments
  • Experience using conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams) and
- ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to teach remotely and on campus
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and
continuous improvement

  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education
program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
