Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to enhancing current offerings, this role will lead the development of EDI initiatives for the entire department and be the responsible for the EDI Action Plan.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Group leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of student life and related issues, presentation experience, and training experience are essential.
- Knowledge and expertise in translating EDI theory to practice is essential.
- An understanding of Indigenous issues including, but not limited reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenous sovereignty.
- Experience in building relationships with partner organizations (campus departments, student associations, etc.) based on mutual trust, respect, genuineness, and commitment.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, and Master's degree (preferably in Human Rights; Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; Higher Education; Multi-Cultural Studies; Social Work; or other related field).
- Three (3) years' experience with advising and working with students in a residence or community setting.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to underrepresented, and/or traditionally marginalized student populations.
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities.
- Experience coordinating student experiences and activities in a university or college setting.
- Previous experience with both advising and supervising student staff/groups.
- Experience facilitating presentations and working groups.
