About The Home:

Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home is a 60-bed long-term care facility located in north Burlington. Mount Nemo has been serving the community since 1985.

Our Home may be older but the people inside (both residents and staff alike), make it the great place for which it has become known The Home bases its care on Christian principles utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach.

The Home is not accessible by public transit; reliable transportation is mandatory.


About This Position:


The Life Enrichment Aide is an active member of the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating social, recreational and restorative programs for residents.

All duties are carried out in accordance with the Long Term Care Homes Act, and Departmental policies and procedures. This position reports to the Life Enrichment Coordinator.


This position includes:

  • Mondays 8:30am4:30pm
  • Tuesdays 8:30am12:30pm
  • Wednesday 12:008:00pm
  • Thursdays 8:30am4:30pm

Duties:


  • Plan, implement and evaluate social, intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual programs for residents living in longterm care
  • Provide activities in both small and large groups
  • Provide 1:1 activities to residents
  • Participate in family care conferences
  • Complete documentation (attendance tracking, progress notes, assessments, care plans, etc.)
  • Participate in program and departmental evaluations
  • Attend staff meetings and inservice educational programs
  • Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by Life Enrichment Coordinator

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related filed from a community college or university
  • Previous or current experience in longterm care (paid or student)
  • Previous or current experience planning and implementing recreational and therapeutic programs to an elderly population
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read and understand English and be capable of following oral and written instructions thoroughly
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 26.5 per week


Salary:
$23.41 per hour
