General Accountability:


  • Reporting to the Head
  • Human Rights & Investigations, the position is responsible for providing administrative, office and file management support to the Head
  • Human Rights & Investigations and the Human Rights Office (HRO) staff in the Human Rights & Investigations Department (HRID). This includes but is not limited to reviewing and processing highly confidential and sensitive information that alleges contraventions of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Criminal Code of Canada, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (as it relates to workplace violence and harassment), the TTC's Workplace Violence and Respect and Dignity policies, TTC's Accommodation in the Workplace Policy, TTC's Diversity and Inclusion Policy, TTC's Code of Conduct Policy, and other related legislative and corporate policies.

Key Job Functions:


  • Receives and promptly processes all complaints, inquiries and consultations received by the Human Rights Office (HRO).
  • Maintains a central database and organized filing system of all inquiries and complaints filed by employees, union officials, customers, applicants, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the general public with the TTC;
  • Extracts information from databases and prepares various statistical, productivity and trend reports and analyses pertaining to the section's area of responsibilities/activities. This involves extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the use of pivot tables;
  • Coordinates and processes weekly HRO attendance and Payroll related duties;
  • Acts as backup for FISCC Coordinator to perform weekly attendance/payroll and other related duties
  • May plan, develop, coordinate, maintain and administer programs for the department/section.
  • Liaises with Information Technology Services Department staff to ensure that the section requirements are met with respect to the development, upgrading and maintenance of its website and file management databases;
  • Liaise with Group/Department staff, other Groups/Departments, and/or external organizations concerning matters regarding assigned work.
  • Performs various duties relating to the coordination, preparation and ongoing monitoring of the budget for HRID;
  • Processes invoices and responsible for various other departmental expense reports and financial responsibilities.
  • Coordinates accommodations and communication supports for accessibility needs, including scheduling sign language interpreters, translators, (as required), as well as department representative for accessible document conversion for all TTC employees;
  • Prepares various reports and presentations on behalf of the Head
  • Human Rights & Investigations and/or the HRO team
  • Purchases and maintains supplies for HRID;
  • Provides training to departmental staff on the case management system and proper record management.
  • Provides administrative, office and file management support to all HRO staff, including Department Head
  • Prepares weekly payroll reports.
  • Schedules meetings/interviews for section staff, including booking of boardrooms

    Education and Experience:
  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
