The Fraser Valley Regional District, located in Chilliwack, is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and parks. Our staff
can enjoy work-life balance with backyard access to many outdoor recreational and healthy activities. The Parks
department is responsible for operations and maintenance of 10 regional parks, 3 regional trails, and a number
of community parks and trails in the Fraser Valley which see many visitations annually.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, independent individual to fill the full-time position of
resource conservation management and efficient operation of regional parks by providing assistance and
support to Parks Assistants, contractors, and volunteers; inspecting parks, facilities, and services; implementing
effective preventative maintenance programs and undertaking general facilities maintenance; supplying open
communication with other agencies; developing and leading interpretive programs and lectures; and reviewing
and providing recommendations to improve current park information including signage, website, brochure,
and social media content.

  • Postsecondary twoyear Technician's Diploma in fish, wildlife and recreation or related discipline plus
minimum two years experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education/experience

  • Thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures and the ability to direct others in an
emergency

  • Proficiency in the latest computer technology and programs
  • Knowledge of the vegetation and wildlife of the Fraser Valley, and local community interest groups and
their respective issues

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express thoughts and ideas
clearly and concisely

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
within and outside the organization

  • Ability to work independently and solve problems quickly by responding appropriately
  • A valid Driver's Licence
The start rate for this full-time Union position is $28.77 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon
successful completion of the required six-month probationary period, the rate will increase to $33.84 per hour.
